World Consumer Rights Day celebrated on 14-03-24
On the occasion of “World Consumer Right Day”, a Quality Connect campaign was organized in JCDM College of Engineering in collaboration with Bureau of Indian standards (BIS), Haryana Branch Office Chandigarh on 14-03-24. On the occasion, numbers of competitions were organized as Standard Writing, Debate Competition, Power point Presentation and Rangoli Makinf. All these copetitions were based on the theme “Consumer rights and awareness” and supervised by Ms. Daljeet Kaur and Mr. Prahlad from BIS, Chadigarh. They also explained about the functioning of BIS and use of “BISCare” app to check the quality/registration details of different products. Students as well as staff members also installed the app and used it.
A prize distribution function was organized to award the winners of these competitions. Dr.Kuldip Singh Dhindsa, an internationally renowned scientist and Director General JCD Vidyapeeth was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Principal JCDM Colleeg of Engineering offered floral welcome to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion as Dr. Sudhanshu Gupta,Registrar JCDV, Dr. Jai Parkash, Principal JCD College of Education and Dr. Anupama Setia, Principal JCD College of Pharmacy.
In his address, Dr. Dhindsa shared that since 1983, March 15 has been celebrated as World Consumer Rights Day. This is an opportunity to draw attention every year to the fundamental rights of all consumers, to respecting their needs and to protecting them. The significance of this day is to highlight the rights of all consumers and protect them from exploitation, discrimination, and other forms of unfair practices. This year’s theme, “Fair Play,” resonates deeply. It compels us to strive for a marketplace where consumers are treated with respect, where information is transparent, and where competition fosters innovation and affordability. He motivated the students to educate themselves regarding their rights as a consumer, be careful during purchasing, spread awareness and prioritize human safety in their designs as an engineer.
About 70 students from all the constituent colleges of JCDV and nearby institutes participated in the competitions. Winners of these competitions were:

Dr. Madhu(Dental), Ms. Kanwaljeet (B.Ed), Ms. Renu(IBM) along with Dr. Silki, Er. Sushil Aggarwal,Er. Ashu Garg, Ms. Daljeet(BIS) and Mr. Prahlad(BIS) performed as panel of judges in these competitions.
